Wedding - Polish style

Dzień dobry,

How many of you married a Polish person?
How many of you are going to?
How many of you would like to read this entry just in case :-)))

Well, as usually, no many answers will be given, but some questions will be asked.

Who delivers wedding speeches?
Who should be in charge of organising a wedding reception?
What do we drink and who pays for it?
When does an open bar end?
What are the traditions for a wedding reception?
How to mix both traditions to do them justice?

What is your experience of Polish weddings - let's all read what you think.

See you in class,
Ola

  1. Hello Ola. Well, I have been to one Polish wedding - my best friend Maciej's in a registry office. All was fine until Maciej said I had to sing, as the CD player was broken. (as I understand it there is always music after the ceremony). I sang "When I fall in Love" By Nat King Cole which went ok.

After that - food, drink and dancing in a wonderful open air restaurant in the mountains. It was intimate and sweet, but with less of the sit-down and speeches formality of a UK wedding. I was bitten to death by mousquitos, embarrassed on the dancefloor (not for the first time) and after 3 sliwowitze, drunk as a lord. Good times!

    Paddy
